Department of Soil Science

The Department of Soil Science is responsible for teaching, research and services related tot he field of soil science. Our Pedology Group and the Soil Fertility Management Group are both focusing on specific scientific fields, however, they together provide the high level of education and research related to soil classification, soil mapping, soil survey, soil fertility management, soil improvement and soil conservation. They also work closely together on multiple national and international research projects. Main research topics of the department include investigating the carbon capture potential of soils, integration of modern soil survey technologies into practice, and the development of soil information systems in Europe, Africa and Asia. Our Soil Science and Agrochemistry Laboratory can carry out high quality analysis supporting our education and research activities.
